Active Girls and Lashes - 5 Tips and Advice

I lift weights 3-4 days a week and do some hardcore Muay Thai kickboxing once a week. After getting lash extensions done for the first time, I had a few concerns and challenges with keeping them on point and fluffy during my fitness endeavors. 

However, it can be done. For example, even after lifting heavy, running, and even swimming, my lashes still look great after three weeks. Here are the tips I recommend:

Tip 1 – Don’t Touch Them Directly

This may be a no brainer, but it’s really tempting to touch your lashes, whether it be out of curiosity, fascination or rubbing your eyes.

This is one of the easiest ways to cause fall out.

Sometimes my eyelids get sweaty and it’s really tempting to wipe them from my lashes, but I use makeup remover wipes or a small cotton swab to wipe off the sweat and makeup off instead.

 

Tip 2 – Protect The Lashes As You Shower

If you sweat 3 to 4 days out of the week like me, it’s kinda hard getting away with not taking multiple showers a day. However, although you may smell great after a shower, the pressure from the water and the showerhead may damage your lash extensions.

What I recommend is cupping the sides of your face while you shower so the water doesn’t splash directly on your face or lashes, and to use a face towel to wash above your eyes and the rest of your face.

 

Tip 3 – Use a Hairband or Sweatband When You Workout

After reading my other tips, you may have realized a pattern – water or anything liquid/oil is not good for your lash extensions. Thus, when pumping iron or doing anything fitness related, try using a sweatband or hairband to prevent sweat from getting on your lashes.

 

Tip 4 – Brush The Lash Extensions After Each Workout

Even though you can do everything in your power to try and not get your lash extensions wet, it is inevitable that it will still happen. Water will twist the extensions and sometimes clump them together, and when they dry they may not look as fluffy as when you first got them done.

To prevent this, brush them out with a clean mascara wand after going to the gym or every time after you take a shower to keep them fanned and fabulous.

 

Tip 5 – Don’t Wear Makeup To The Gym

This may be a controversial tip as what you wear to the gym is completely up to you, but when you are sweating with lash extensions, oils and sweat may clog up your pores and also damage your lash extensions.

Try to avoid makeup or wearing minimal makeup to the gym, and as a bonus, you don’t have to deal with removing it and redoing it after showering afterward.

 

I hope some of these tips helped my fellow active girls who won’t let anything get in their way. With proper care and love, you can look strong and fabulous with lash extensions that will last.
